Looking for Portable Wireless Internet

So, I am a high school student, with quite an interest in online gaming. At school, I sometimes have downtime in which I would like to use my gaming laptop. Problem is, I can't access the game server due to the blocked websites on my school's wi-fi. What I need is a way to access the internet while at school, without worrying about what is or isn't blocked. I have a cell phone with unlimited 4G data. However, for whatever reason, my data does not work well inside the school building. (In almost every classroom, my phone only works on edge network.)

I have seen some USB forms or portable hotspots, but I am not sure which will work the best for my situation. (Will the portable hotspots have the same problem as my phone's data?) What product would work best to provide me with internet access that is unrestricted and capable of supporting online gaming?

Meldoor,

Just a "heads up" to possibly save you some frustration.

Your school obviously has a rule about gaming while at school. And they actively enforce that rule by blocking websites.

I doubt that this forum's rules will permit anyone to provide assistance such as you have requested.

Ultimately, a moderator will review your posting and will most likely close this thread in accordance with the applicable rules.

Challenge yourself and find a new way to use your downtime.

Unless they have a rule about not using personal equipment in the school I doubt it is any violation to use it.

The only way you are going to get internet is via a cell phone system. There may be another carrier that has better coverage in the building. Ask you friends who have other carriers how strong their signal is.

So now lets assume you found a carrier that works or lets even assume your phone would get good signals even at home.

Bad news is there is no such thing as a unlimited 4g plan when you run tethered (except for a tiny number of grandfathered Verizon plans). Even the so called unlimited plans that run just on phones are not really unlimited the fine print allows them to degrade the speed if you exceed certain limits. Some even block streaming video in the so called unlimited plans.

So if you find something that will work are you willing to pay $10-$15/gig to play games. You can easily run over $100/month.
