Hey everyone
Looking for some powerline adapters with specific requirements

So I'm not sure of the model but right now I've got something similar looking to the TP-LINK AV600. (They are tp link what I have too) And, I have some issues with them, where basically if I do something that doesn't constantly access the internet, like browsing webpages or watching a fully buffered YouTube video, they cut out and stay cut out for up to a minute, unless I switch the upstairs one on and off again then it comes back on instantly. However, when I do something that uses the internet all the time like downloading something or playing a game, it never ever happens. I believe it to be something to do with the sleep modes or something like that, is there a way to disable that?

But basically preferabbly I'm looking for decent gigabit powerlines without a sleep state mode on it. Probably around the £50 range.

-Thanks.

2.Trendnet Powerline 500 AV2 Adapter (Kit) - A fast, easy, and cheap way to extend your network.
3.Linksys PLEK500 Powerline AV2 Gigabit Network Adapter Kit- Top powerline performance to date.
4. Actiontec 500 Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit (PWR511K01)- Small, fast, and affordable.

There has been quite a improvement in the powerline units with the latest generation. Things that us AV2 are much better than the older av200 and av500. The AV2 standard use the ground lead as well at the other 2 for signally. This lets it have more bandwidth but it also get past some of the problems with circuit breakers. It also seems to do better with interference.....although I have never seen one that my vacuum cleaner can not kill when plugged in the same room.

You can many times get the tplink av2-1200 units on sale for less than some of the older tplink units not sure why. These tend to be near the top of almost all the review sites.

Alright, thanks for the advice guys.
What exactly is AV2 anyway? Is it tp links new line of stuff or is it in general?

It is a standard that all the manufactures use. I think the standards are something called homeplug. In theory at least you should be able to mix vendors equipment. Like most computer things you find few if any of the brand names you see on the outside actually make the chip or products. I think almost all powerline chips are made by companies like broadcom or qualcomm.

On thing to check on your PC, under power settings, advanced settings there may be a setting for ethernet adapter, make sure it is set to never loose power (this setting could also be in adapter properties in network and sharing center).

Otherwise I agree to upgrade to the second generation poweline adapters. Typically anything av1000 or faster will be gen 2.

Hmm...I can't seem to find any option like that. I'm on WIndows 10 just incase that matters. Um, do you mean in the Power Options where you change from power saver, high performance etc? Or do you mean somewhere else?

Oh I'm in my ethernet adapters settings under power mamagement, then theres power saver options with options saying:
Repoond to NS requests without waking system
Enercy Efficient Ethernet
Reduce link speed during system idle.

Link speed already unchecked, turns out theres 4 options thhere.
Unchecked energy efficient now, the other thing is 'Respond to ARP requests without waking system' doubt thats anything to do with it tho.
Anyway, hopefully this fixes the cutting out issue.
Ty for advice
