Changing out a laptop's CPU can sometimes be a very tricky process. There are many cables and wires that could break or be pulled loose if you aren't careful opening it. The thermal tape or compound is another hurdle. A desktop CPU can easily be changed out and the application of the thermal compound is relatively simple. The laptop can offer more challenges.
