Looking for PS4 Pro/Xbox One X Equivalent

Wanting to create a system that I can connect up to my TV and use just like you would with an Xbox One X or PS4 Pro with equivalent or better graphics/experience.

This is my current setup that I've had for 4-5 years now;


*Intel i5-4590 @ 3.3Ghz (with aftermarket Cooler)
*Gigabyte Z97-HD3 Motherboard
*8Gb Ram
*AMD R9 280 "VTX" (if anyone can shed some light on what the VTX is It'd be much appreciated)
*1TB Hard Drive
*Asus Soundcard

Now I'm wondering what to upgrade, the CPU upgrade is held back by the Motherboard, so should I go with CPU and Motherboard, or look closer at the Graphics Card?

Would like the system to be "future ready" so able to run like GTA5, the new RDD, etc then be ready for GTA6....

I'm looking to spend around the same you would on one of the console, so around the £500 mark

Upgrading the graphics card should be first on the list, followed by an SSD for the OS and programs.

An RX 580 8GB or GTX 1060 6GB would be a good choice. Remember that Nvidia have released their Turing cards now, so we'll no doubt see a GTX 2060 and GTX 2050 at some point. You could be waiting a while mind you.

Future proofing doesn't exist really; nobody can tell you how graphics tech and games will evolve in the coming years.
