Looking for PSU recommendation

Im using generic PSU as of the moment, can you suggest a entry to mid range price PSU. this is my current setup.

PROC: AMD A8-7500
RAM: 8GB RAM (2x4gb dual channel)
GPU: asus rog strix RX460 4GB OC
MOBO: ECS A68M-C4DL
STORAGE: 1TB

What is the make/model of the PSU that you have now? It may be fine for the RX-460. Most can run on a decent quality 380W with a 6-pin connector.
Will this PSU want to go in a top mount case or bottom mount?

I'm currently using 650w generic PSU

I am switching to a true rated PSU cause I've been reading a lot of comments that using a generic PSU is not good for my unit.

Depends on your case, if it uses a standard ATX ID go with
Power Supply: Corsair - CXM (2015) 450W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ Amazon)
If it uses SFX psu,
Power Supply: Corsair - SF 450W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular SFX Power Supply ($85.43 @ OutletPC)
If it uses TFX or other, proprietary psu, you might be out of luck and keep what you have for as long as it works.

Yeah, the case it will be going into will make a difference. That's why I asked for the make and model of your current "generic" PSU. Unless it is a total piece of junk, you don't need to do anything. That card is only 75W TDP.
