Looking for recommendation on upgrading HD 5770

Hi,

I'm an old man and I'm not up to date regarding hardware. I'm looking to upgrade my HD 5770 and I have no idea what cards will give me a noticeable improvement in performance.

I play some games (Skyrim, Fallout, Bioshock), watch Netflix and downloaded movies\blu-rays.

Here's my system...

AMD Phenom II X6 1075T 3.0Ghz
2 x 4g ram
Seasonic x-660 power supply
Sapphire Radeon HD 5570

budget - <$300

I upgraded from that card about gosh about 2 years ago now I had a XFX version though. Well a couple of things your CPU is going to struggle with cards in the mid 200's and up dollar wise so you won't have to worry about hitting that point. I would consider a 660Ti

These 2 for example the ASUS one because they have excellent coolers that keep cards very cool and are very silent and the EVGA one because of the warranty customer service you get from them and because that is the best cooler they have to offer that is cooled by air.

You could also take a look at the 7850's which would probably be fine for your setup as well.

the radeon 7850 would be a good buy.
its about twice as powerful as a 5770 yet is under $200. try get the 2gb variety . the extra 1gb will help in skyrim if you play with lots of hi resolution texture mods.

Well both recommendations I had made were 2 gigabyte cards but yes I would stick to 2 gigabyte cards at the moment. I would of recommended higher. But your CPU wouldn't keep up with a 7950 or a 7970 or 670 for that matter.

At the moment a mid level card will do just fine with the CPU you have. What I am saying though is that if you wanted to be able to handle some of those higher end cards I would say it would be advisable to upgrade otherwise overclock a bit.

no don't upgrade ur processor it's gonna be fine with a 660 or 660 ti i really recommend u those two cards they won't bottleneck and u'll find a great performance boost between the 5770 and anyone of those cards .
If u can afford to buy a 660 ti then go for it

You should have no problems overclocking that CPU if you need more performance - should go up to 3.8GHz with a good air cooler like the CoolerMaster Hyper 212.

The Gigabyte card is among the cheaper cards in the 660Ti line so yea it would be a valid option. And yea I hope I wasn't misunderstood I just said that he can handle a mid range card but if he wanted more it would be probably best to look towards a upgrade system wise.
