I have a main 6TB external drive which I use every single day. I also have three other 2TB external drives. I want to set up an incremental weekly backup procedure for that 6TB drive on the three 2TB drives.
I have been doing my incremental backups manually and irregularly up to this point (simply by manually checking what has changed on the 6TB drive and then locating the appropriate directory on the relevant 2TB drive and then copy-pasting the new data), but I have really grown tired of the whole procedure.
What is the best way to automate this? Naturally, the backup should happen "on-request", as I do not have all of my drives connected at all times and I intend to do incremental backups once or twice a week. I do NOT need file versioning and history.
I have looked into Acronis True Image. It certainly sounds promising, but I am not sure whether it would be capable of dividing the backup automatically to three separate drives. On the other hand, I am not sure whether image backups would be my best bet. Wouldn't normal file backup do better? Furthermore, is it even worth paying for when there are freebies doring the same, such as EaseUS Todo?
Finally, is there an automated way to compare the contents of two drives every once in a while? i.e. ensure that everything on two drives is absolutely identical (e.g. directory structures, file attributes, checksums, file sizes, etc.)
