Looking for a reliable and durable SATA 500 mb (or smaller) hard drive. I don't mind older models if they have good reputations and are still available.

I don't need ultra large hard drives, I can't even fill up a 500gb drive. And why put everything on a large drive when you can spread it over several smaller drives so in the event of a failure without backup you don't loose everything.
After this discussion I realized that when I last bought hard drives I was getting the WD enterprise version (for reliability). So a few days ago I was looking on eBay and there was a brand new WD RE4 250gb drive for $20. I grabbed it and it was delivered today. A few more of those and I'll be able to have extra drives for backing up my two computers.

Any opinions on the WD RE4 enterprise hard drives?

If it's true that the 5 yr warranty starts from the date of manufacture, then I'll have to rely on whatever warranty comes from the seller.

Are the black WD drives their most reliable?
