Looking for some help with my first PC build!

Solution
I would stay away from an i3 for any modern games. If you go intel, an i5 is totally worth it.

I would NEVER buy preowned.

If you go with the FX 6300 build, change the motherboard to: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P
Great OC board for that chip. Lots of free performance and good support for an OC.

I don't know much about the corsair PSUs, but that's the only other thing I would look at improving. Everything else looks good.

As for bottlenecking, FX 6300 with a decent OC can drive a GTX 970 or even a 980. So you're fine with a GTX960 or R9380.

You'll be just fine with your original build and a good OC.

$550 budget? Go preowned. And maybe you may want to reacquire some of your titles...
