Looking for suggestions on a new GPU

I have recently been having a ton of issues with the "display driver stopped responding and has recovered". I ruled out pretty much everything except switching out the GPU (I don't have another on hand) and its about time to upgrade anyway, I would like to keep the price under or around $300, so please suggest away!

CPU: i7-2600k 3.40GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth p67
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1866 8gb
GPU: GTX 570 SC

Shoot! Sorry thought I added it, it's a LEPA 900w. Yeah it's overboard but I had my reasons.

the 290x would be a better choice right now and will be better than the 970

i have the same problem think it is a bug or something with the AMD drivers, the reason why i say this is becasue i updated the drivers on my laptop and ever since i udated it started have the proble that you are having. but anyway the 290x is a good choice.
