Looking for the best card I can safely run with a CX-600W

I have this almost 5 year old PC and I want to start upgrading it by the GPU:

i5-3330
2x4 GB Ripjaws
CX-600 W v2

However, I realized that the CX series PSUs are extremely crappy. It runs fine with my Radeon 7870, but I've tested it with a GTX 580 in the past and the whole system would turn off while gaming.

I was thinking about what are the best current cards I could run newer games with that PSU/system while I upgrade the other parts.

The new cards are way more power efficient. You PSU should be fine with UpTo the GTX 1080 or rx480. I wouldn't suggest the Titan or fury or the 390's.
