Should, looks like it takes a maximum of 2x8GB. Going from 8GB to 10GB is not hugely significant. Going from 2GB to 8GB on the other hand is a worthwhile upgrade. To make it easy and not try mixing memory sticks, just use the 8GB stick or sticks.

I believe the chipset will play more of a factor - so your specific motherboard would be helpful to know?

I assume 760G etc, which, generally, will max out at 16GB.

AM3 (Official)
2x8GB DDR3 1333 (1600 (O.C.), unofficial)
2x8GB DDR3 1066 ECC
AM2+
2x8GB DDR2 1066
2x8GB DDR2 800 ECC

In layman terms, two sticks of 8GB RAM, DDR3 at up to 1333 MHz (PC3-10600)/
1066 MHz (PC3-8500) ECC
for AM3

two sticks of 8GB DDR2
at 1066 MHz (PC2-8500)/
800 MHz (PC2-6400) ECC
for AM2+

And you can unlock a second core for some AM3 760G motherboards 😉

what motherboard. usually its the motherboard that limits how much ram you can have not the cpu.

The sempron 145 supports up to 8GB RAM but that can be limited by the motherboard and/or the OS. 32-bit OS's can only support 4GB so even if the motherboard supports 8GB, the OS can't see anything above 4GB because 2^32 is 4G. Other hardware may reserve some of that 4GB so you may have ~3.5GB available.
