I'm looking for the name of an old pc space game. I remember playing it in the early 90s but it could have also been made somewhere at the end of the 80s.
I don't remember almost anything. I do remember it was a space ship which could take boosts during the game. The boosts were with 3 colors - red, blue and some other color. Every color determined the way the space ship fired (I just remember that red was lasers) and each boost you took made the ship have a bigger fire power. It could also charge itself to fire a special big shot.
Does someone recognize it?

Atleast you could have mentioned the Platform on which you played this game was it PC? 😛 or Sega, Nitendo, which one was it, that could probably help you nail it down further.

But I did write it..
"I'm looking for the name of an old pc space game"

Aghh so many clones like it, I pretty much know exactly what your talking about, but can't recall the specific game. Gradius, Gladius, one of those lol, or maybe it's this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_Wing or something very similar. Here is a description of the weapons, it mentions Gradius and R-Type as having similar systems: Using the main cannon: single-shot (without power-ups), scatter-shot (red power-up), lasers (blue power-up), or homing missiles (green power-up). Similar to configuring the Vic Viper in Gradius or collecting pickups in R-Type.

It's not zero wing..
In my game, the space ship have flown from the bottom of the screen to its top, unlike zero wing where you fly from left to right.
The game I'm talking about is similar to Xenon 2 megablast but of course with the power ups I mentioned

Nah it's too old. It's also a game where your ship flies from left to right and not from bottom to top.

I remember Descent.. I've played it as well (and Descent free space) but it wasn't it.. Descent was a in a first person view and my game had an above view

Of course I would remember Space Invaders as it's one of the most famous games ever created...
I was looking for games from the 90s, not 70s :)

The first two are not even close.. they seem like space invaders and it's not the type of game which was the one I'm searching for.
Tyrian is the style of the game I'm searching for, but there you need to buy weapons in order to upgrade your ship, and also you can't charge to a special shot.

I agree. There aren't really a lot of vertical scrolling shmups for PC but the fact you remember charging the weapon eliminates all of the ones I've been able to find. There are a few very good ones out there. Raptor: Call of the Shadows comes to mind. That mechanic seems to be missing though.

Are you certain it was on PC? Could someone have had an Amiga or Atari ST?

I've also posted this question at GameSpot's forums and someone recognized it after I said I remember the word "mirage" associated with the game.
