Looking for the right TV

I've been looking for a 32" 1080p TV, and the most important thing I'm looking for is a great black level and color accuracy.

I don't care about smart TV features, so whether it's a "smart tv" or a "dumb tv" doesn't matter. Similarly, it doesn't matter as much whether it's just 60hz or if it has a higher response time. I'm not a competitive online gamer, the games I play are slower paced. However, I am a colorphile, and the games I play are completely reliant on a good black level and accurate colors. I had considered another monitor, but the general opinion in reviews is that TVs have inkier blacks and richer colors, while monitors focus more on quick response times... True or false?

Cost isn't an absolute limit, but I'd prefer to keep it at or below $500 if possible, since it's just a 32" tv. If I need to spend more for the black level, contrast ratio, and color accuracy I'm looking for though, I would spend more.

I've heard that even sometimes TVs of the same model can use different panels, which is making this hard to figure out. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
