I am building my first workstation and have selected the following hardware so far....

ASUS X99-PRO/USB 3.1 LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core i7-5930K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.5 GHz LGA 2011-v3
Still shopping for DDR4 and hard-drives

I like the reviews for the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB GAMING, Silent Cooling Graphics Card 06G-P4-4990-KR

Except for the emphasis is on gaming. This makes me question if it's the right choice for my build. My questions are what would be the best graphics card for IDEs, 3D CAD, movies, and gaming? Also, how do I determine if the graphics card is compatable with my motherboard and processor...Like any other red-blooded American I want the biggest bang for my buck.

My budget for the graphics card is $500-1,000....Recommendations and comments are appreciated!

Wow...The reviews for the EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN X 12GB SC are phenomenal for 3D modeling and gaming. I wouldn't mind going a little over budget for a card that can perform like a beast in multiple arenas. Thank you TechNeeeQ, this looks like a great option!
