Ok guys i need help getting a good wifi extender, I used dlink dap1320 so far it was good but disconnected sometimes, my router is downstairs because the tv needs it, so upstairs the Download speed drops. I was looking at some netgear ac750 but idk if that's good. Btw I live in Canada and plz under 100$

Solution
The signal from the little whip antennas attached to most routers forms a donut-shaped coverage area. Signal strength is highest outwards towards the sides, weakest directly above and below.

So if your router has 2 or more antennas and you're getting poor signal in the room directly above or below the router, you can improve the signal simply by tilting one of the antennas so the bulk of its coverage donut intercepts you room.

If the only reason the Internet is downstairs (and thus giving you bad wifi everywhere else), I'd recommend looking at running a powerline adapter setup and move the Router upstairs. That way you can get wifi where you want it and just run a cabled connection down to the TV. I use the ZyXEL PLA5405 kit and get great performance out of it. The Comtrend PG-9172 has also gotten even better results in reviews but its not as widely available.
