[SOLVED] Looking for X570 motherboard with additional 6-pin PCIe power connector on the board itself

Hi guys... Just as the subject says...I'm looking for X570 motherboard with additional 6-pin PCIe power connector on the board itself. So, you have your usual 8-pin EPS12V for CPU power, and then a 6-pin for the PCIe slots.


X570 chipset.


Seems to be a lot less common now than it was in the past.

Anandtech has a list of the 35+ launch boards and you can see what the power delivery is on them. From what I am seeing, a lot use 8pin and 4pin. However, there are some dual 8pin.

Dual 8pin:
Gigabyte Auros Extreme & Auros Master
MSI MEG Godlike, Ace, & Unify
MSI Prestige Creation

You can see in the first picture, all the way down in the lower right. There's a PCIe power connector.

I don't think there in one. Just spent awhile looking through the available X570 boards and didn't see 1 that had supplemental power for PCI-e.

That Z490 doesn't have a 6pin in the bottomed right for the PCIe. That is the front panel pins you see there, it only has a 4pin and 8pin. In all honesty I don't think I've seen what you are looking for in quite a while. I was just looking through old motherboards and cannot even see any like that back to the X39.

What cards are you planning to use that require that much power from the motherboard? Most motherboards with supplemental PCI power have several x16 slots or are setup for mining with a bunch of x1 slots.

Dang, I looked at that one, but it was hidden under a plate and I didn't dig any further. The price is kinda nuts.

Didn't mean to come off that way. I didn't see the PEG label, only was looking for an upright 6pin connections. Same reason why I couldn't find it on older motherboards as well. I stupidly forgot that I have the PCIe connection on my motherboard as well.

So, the problem is that those transient spikes you're hearing about with Ampere cards also applies to power delivered through the PCIe slot. So while the card may not be pulling more than 75W from the slot, the sudden load is sometimes too much for the mere two conductors on a 24-pin cable and the voltage drops out of spec.
