Hey there guys. I am looking to join the "master race" the pc gaming scene. I currently have a pretty good setup I'd like to think (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kkZnVn). Though I was wondering if I need to make the switch to an i5 processor. If so which should I get and what would be the benefits? Thank you!

Yah that looks good except for a few things. First kingston SSDnow's are junk I would stay away from those they have a terrible reputation. And that is a micro ATX board a full ATX motherboard would be best if your case fits it. And about the 980 I would personally go for a 390x over the 980 if I could not afford a 980 ti, both the 980 and 390x perform pretty much the same in most games but I think the 390x is just more card for the money and I think it will pull ahead of the 980 in newer games that utilize dx12.
an i5 is good for gaming. you only need the extra cores if you're streaming while gaming, or doing lots of video editing and rendering.

Do you have the rig already? If yes then its good enough for gaming. Dont change anything.

Do you still intend to build that rig? Please dont. You can get a better gaming rig w/ a $815 budget.
I cant see any storage (HD/SSD). Dont you need it? And i see no price for that PSU (Corsair Professional Gold 850W). Do you already have it?

I could show you a very strong $815 budget gaming build.
No OS, storage, PSU included because it seems you already took care of that.

Now this is a gaming rig for the "master race" the pc gaming scene 😀

Oh I read this wrong, i agree if you already have the system in your pcpartpiker description I would just stick with what you have for a while longer.

For a little clarification. I do already have the rig. I bought it off a guy on ebay for 450 total. I thought it was a hell of a deal. I'm getting a raise here soon and was thinking about saving up and putting that money towards an i5, new mobo, and a 980 ti. With my new job plus probably the 400 i could get from my current gpu's cpu and mobo I don't think it will be a huge financial investment
