I finally made an account to ask for help. I've scoured the Internet for a build that will help me achieve what I want: a desktop that will play games at 1080p 60fps comfortably. I would have just gone with a build that someone suggested to another user that fit my description but there were far too many negative comments putting the build down and it really put me off. I found the same in youtube videos where instead of an actual discussion, there was constsnt arguing and so here I am asking for your help!!
I have read a lot and found that the popular cpus for this include the pentium g4560 and the i5 (either 6700 or 7400??). My preference is to purchase an i5 because I'm not sure how much multitasking the pentium can handle.

Approximate Purchase Date: I will probably purchase the parts gradually within the next year as I am currently a student and can only allocate so many funds with limited time available to me.

Budget Range: £800 maximum. Lower is better but if i have to go over by 50-100£ then it's fine because I will purchase the parts gradually.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, recording videos and audio of my screen, watching movies/live tv, voice recording whilst gaming, surfing the Web.

Are you buying a monitor: I will probably use a my 1080p Samsung led tv to use the PC but I will look into purchasing a 4k monitor in the distant future.

Parts to Upgrade: I don't have any parts.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: amazon.co.uk, websites that are available for UK consumers

Location: London, England, UK

Parts Preferences: intel i5 would be the best CPU I think

Overclocking: Yes, but only in the future if the system starts to struggle with holding 1080p @ 60 fps with high or ultra settings

SLI or Crossfire:

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I can appreciate that most of the users on this website use the US$. This is fine as a quick Google search will allow me to locate the parts with GB prices. A quiet PC would be great. I don't care about the aesthetic of it.
Also, I play a variety of games but they are mostly driving and shooter games.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I'm tired of console gaming. I don't want to be stuck in a constant loop of purchasing a console that cannot compete with a mid range PC every few years. Also, it would be perfect to do everything with one unit e.g. Watch movies, browse the Web and play games.

I think for what you're looking for a ryzen might suit you a little better than a core i5. If you have any preference a gtx 1060 6gb will perform the same/slightly better for a few extra bucks. This system is also lacking an SSD, but that does not affect any gaming performance and can be added at any time. For overclocking you may need a bit of a beefier power supply
