[SOLVED] Looking To Build A Secondary PC System For Education and Enjoyment

Hi, I already own a prebuilt gaming PC that I have been gaming on for the past 2 years. However, I've always wanted to build a computer for the educational experience it provides. The problem is I am finding it hard to justify spending 500-600 Australian dollars on parts if I have no use for the system after it has been built. I have looked at various articles for uses for an old or secondary PC but they are often outdated and frankly unintriguing to me.

I would appreciate any suggestions for using a secondary PC or any projects I could undertake to make it worthwhile.

Also:
Here is a potential part list for this build https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/qJVjn7
I tried to balance the price of the build with enough performance to allow me to undertake potential projects or ideas.
I know that I will have to give my MOBO a bios update -> are there any other issues or incompatibilities?

To summarise: What would be some potential uses or projects for a second PC? and are my listed specs sufficient?

Thanks in advance.

If you're a streamer, you can use 2nd PC as dedicated streaming PC. That would take a lot of load off from your main PC, making your games run smoother and hardware lasting longer (since they won't be working that hard). Though, you'd need dedicated capture card in 2nd PC for that as well.

For other uses, you can also make your 2nd PC as proxy server, routing all net traffic through it (e.g: net <-> proxy server <-> gaming PC). It would add another layer of net security for your home network.

If you don't live alone, give it to your family member for them to use it for surfing web/school work.
