looking to build a system thats runs entierely off of linux live dvd discs and live usb flash drives. need help choosing parts

i guess i would skip having a hard drive or ssd in the build. but then would a bios let me boot linux from a disc right out the box?

Hi

Having disabled secure boot in uefi
(unless you have a sutable version of linux like Red Hat)

Then set boot order as dvd then usb

And possibly setting legacy disk access mode then most modern motherboards
Will boot up a dvd or usb of any modern pc hardware compatible operating system

windows xp and earlier probably not supported on lattest chip sets

You should start with looking up supported motherboard chipsets on the linux distribution web site first

The obvious question is to ask why are you doing this?

First question...Why?
Doable, sure.

But knowing what you want to do with this may lead to an actual list of parts.
