Hey there,

Recently I've been looking into building my first "strong" PC for my upcoming University Film Projects ( Film Editing ), as well as a bit of gaming leisure.

I have a budget of $1500AUD and want to buy as much as I can from umart ( Sydney Center Store), to avoid postage damage or the chance of it, although I'm happy to get a few posted if needed.

To the point;

I have been looking at motherboards, and can't seem to come to a conclusion on what CPU Socketed Mobo would suit me, as well as what would fit the budget for what I have. I have looked at LGA-1150s and an i7 4790 and i7 4790K. Leads me to my next question.

In acquaintance to the motherboard choice, what would be a suitable CPU for my needs and compatibility? I don't want to have to water cool my system, but I'd be happy to get a liquid cooler for a CPU if believed it's needed.

Any other build ideas for me

Thanks guys/girls

That Xeon is basically an i7 without integrated graphics, that's as good as a comparison as you can get. Also, the 960 is quite a bit weaker than the 970, and you want all the CUDA you can get for video editing. As said, you will get massively better performance if you spend the extra money.
Shopping strictly from Umart significantly narrows what you can actually get to the point where you can either get a very crappy machine or a very good one that goes sorely over-budget.

Also, can you spend about 100$ more on this? Because you can get significantly better performance if you spend that extra 100$.

Well, I then have to pay for individual postage from many different stores.

What is your opinion on the MSI GTX 960 4GB Card compared to the 970 you suggested above? I havent heard many good things about the 970 cards, but that the 960 packs a good punch for its price.

Can you help me out to compare the Xeon CPU to the i7 4790 or 4790K?
