I am looking to build the following setup: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pQPU
however, I was curiou as to why there were two hard drives on there? I know that one is a SSD and one is a HDD, but why are they both on there? Im not entirely sure of the difference between them except that the SSDs are more expensive. Any help?

Solution
The SSD is best at "finding" data saved on it. That's why it's a good boot drive. It gets all your Win 7 files as well as personal files up faster. And it also helps with game loading menus if you complain about those kinds of things 😉

The HDD is essential, though, if you're downloading a bunch of movies and music etc.

Oh, and if you have a lot of games you may want them on your HDD since you'll run out of space quick on the SSD.
SSD's are good boot devices; you may want to wait for a better price. I won't use my old conventional hardrive any more except as an emergency spare. I enjoy the extra speed and virtual silence of my ssd. Mine is only 32 gb, but with hibernation and the security protection features disabled, I still have over 15 gb of space left with windows 7 64 bit and all the security updates loaded.
