I need to upgrade the video card in one of these boxes - Dell Dimension C521 - and just finished reading this insightful post. I'm so glad I didn't run out and buy a card. Would have fouled up big had I not read this thread first. 😗

Question if you will.....

Did you finally buy this card and if so, how did it work out for you?

Thanks to all who posted to this thread!

has anyone found the Galaxy GeForce 9600 GT LowPower LowProfile for sale anywhere? I for one don't know anyone that's tried it yet on a Dell C521 or can I find it for sale on the internet.

I got one today! I have a Dell C521 and went to Best Buy, they had the Galaxy GeForce 9600 GT LP on sale for $92. I was thinking I had to buy the power cable adapter as well, they didn't have one, so I figured I'd buy the card and get the cable later. Got it home, opened it up, looked at the card and noticed that there is no place to plug in a power cable on the card. Did some more reading and found a site that reviewed the card and it said that the LP means low profile and low power! So no need for extra power! The yellow sticker on the box says that too but I didn't notice.

Plugged it in, booted up, installed the drivers and now COD 4 looks a million times better! About to try it on Dead Space, that was looking weak with my ATI Radeon 1300.

I wish you luck but if you can't find this card, I will sell you mine for $200... just kidding.

My C521 has the AMD 3800+ dual core at 2.0 Ghz and I maxed the RAM to 3 GB (it will take 4 but doesn't show more than 3)
Dead Space looks amazing! Burnout Paradise too.... can finally run those at high quality graphics. What a difference, so smooth and detailed.

Didn't think this machine was going to handle the games I wanted, but all it took was $100 video card!

Sweet!!

Update....

I am very happy with the video card so far. It does not get too hot, it is not loud at all.
I also ended up upgrading the processor to the 89 watt version of the AMD Athlon X2 6000+ that runs at 3.1 Ghz and now I can run all my games at max graphics. I don't have Crysis but am planning on buying that soon so I can really see what the system can do.

Anyway, for less than a couple hundred bucks (video card $92 + tax, processor $73 shipped from Ebay) my PC has a new lease on life!
