Looking to buy my mum a new mobile for christmas as her's rn is terrible, wondering what the best phones are with that price budget, but am willing to go a bit over. Thanks

Solution
I'd buy a used great condition phone with that budget. Those budget phones get few if any updates and use the cheapest parts. Plus a lot of them are insecure as they come preloaded with questionable bloatware from the factories. Some even have been found with spyware and malware pre-loaded from the factory.

A used unlocked Pixel 2 will outperform any new phone for that price. It will also have a better screen and camera. Plus it will get regular security updates, a vanilla Android experience and likely at least one more major Android update.

A used iPhone 7 is another good option. It'll also outperform a new cheap phone. Plus receive OS and security...

A used iPhone 7 is another good option. It'll also outperform a new cheap phone. Plus receive OS and security updates for a couple more years. High quality third party batteries are easier to find too. Along with shops which offer official OEM batteries.

The Samsung A30 looks pretty good for the price it's around $469 nzd (New Zealand Dollars) new and the phone has a huge 4000mAh battery, sadly only a 720p screen but its a super AMOLED panel, it has 2 rear cameras (ultra-wide 5mp, 17mp standard), an 84% screen to body ratio, type-c charge/data port, 3.5mm headphone jack, 64gb of storage, screen size is 6.4 inches.
Link To the phone (please note it will be in Nzd and you will have to look at samsungs website for your country to get your own provider and correct price)
