Hello, i am looking to buy a new gpu. I am playing at 1280x720p. I have 4gb ram and athlon ii x2 250. I would get r9 270x because i can get it for 83 euros, but i need to upgrade my motherboard and cpu too. I was told that my cpu wont bottleneck r7 260x. If so, what fps would be with r7 260x and my cpu? Can i play on high at 50-60 fps? If not is it better to get r9 270x? Thanks

I would get the r9 270x over the 260x, it's better by a large margin. Now for the CPU, if you're wanting Intel I would recommend an i5-4460/i3-4150 w/ a $70 motherboard, or if you want an AMD option go with the FX-6300 w/ a 990FX chipset motherboard and overclock the FX-6300 as much as possible.

im kinda in a budget i have lets say about 170 euros to spend, that leaves me with 90 euros for cpu and motherboard, can i use a 20 euros motherboard because i wont overclock cpu, and for cpu i thought ii x4 955 it sells for about 50 euros here. what do you think? you also didnt answer me wether im gonna run games on high settings with 60fps in 720p or not

@didivu If you're on a budget I'd still at least get the 270x. Just because you're getting it so cheap and isn't much more expensive than the 260x. Just hold off on the CPU/Mobo upgrade, but I would try to upgrade as much as possible.

If you overclock the r9 270 it will be the exact same as an r9 270x, and if you don't overclock it won't be THAT much of a difference with the r9 270x being better.

"You might gain a little in minimum frame rate depending on the screen resolution/video memory usage, but little else if the CPU is theoretically maxed out with a lower performing GPU." - dividebyzero @ techspot.

So you'll still have stable fps, it's just that the r9 270x won't run to it's full potential; but that's fine because you're getting the r9 270x for the same price as an r7 260x, and you're planning on upgrading CPU in the near future.

Ok i will get r9 270x, will i be able to play far cry 4 on med-high on 720p with 30-40fps? Also can you suggest me a cpu+motherboard combination for about 200 euros? It can be a bit more

You might be able to, it's just that your CPU is a really old dual core and Far Cry 4 was a game that didn't support dual cores originally. So I don't really know, and for the CPU/Motherboard combo, I would go with an FX-6300/Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 or i3-4150/MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition; the Intel option is better for gaming and allows for EASY upgrade. But the AMD option is a much better all around setup, especially if you get the CM Hyper 212 Evo and overclock.

Side note: The reason why I went with the MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition motherboard is because in the future you have the ability to overclock, supports SLI, and is only ~$100.

@didivu I will still go with the i3-4150; same amount of cores/threads (2/4, respectively) as the i5, with a higher clock-speed and that motherboard is perfectly fine. It's just that you won't be able to SLI or Cross-Fire, which for the majority of people don't really care for SLI or Cross-fire. But with the CPU, if you can find a quad-core i5 for cheap, jump on that. Then for the performance, you should be able to run it perfectly fine. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvm5Kke_RFM) <-- Runs Far Cry 4 w/ i3-4150 + R9 270 @ Ultra, 720P w/ an average of 45 FPS; this is also done with only 1 stick of 4GB DDR3.

I decided to go with fx 6300 because games are starting to require more cores, I'll get 1 stick of 4gb ddr3 ram and i'll get r9 270x with AsRock 960GM-VGS3. Opinions?

I would get 8 GB, but other than that everything is perfectly fine.
