Looking to buy a new monitor question

I'm looking to buy a new montior with 120hz or higher refresh rate so when I am playing windowed borderless games my refresh rate isn't locked to 60hz because of my 2nd monitor. This new monitor would be my 2nd monitor and my primary one is a 120hz BenQ which I love.

My question is can I run 120/144hz on display port? Do I need anything in particular in order to do this? I have a GTX 1080ti and I am using DVI-D to run 120hz, but the card only has 1 DVI-D, and HDMI cannot run 120hz right? But I have 3 display ports. Its been a while since I have been monitor shopping lol.

The second I checked the box for display port the price of the cheapest monitor on newegg went from $200 to $280ish. Seems kinda crazy.
Literally all I want is a monitor which can match my current primary monitors refresh rate and has a display port. 300 seems a little high for a secondary monitor to me.

I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any! Thanks!

Yes, display port has the most bandwidth for running things. 4K 144hz is possible with the DP version the 1080Ti has.

Also why you have 3 display ports. It is the preferred port for PC monitors. HDMI is there to service TVs and consumer electronics. DVI is an obsolete standard that will probably disappear in the next generation or two of GPUs.
