Hello to everyone hope everyone is enjoying 2019 so far. Im here to ask for some advice, im wanting to change from an AMD 8320 CPU which is Overclocked at 4ghz, to an intel CPU for gaming.

My 8320 is great and all but is just not cutting it anymore, im looking for something that is pretty decent and can run escape from tarkov at least somewhat decently, "other games id imagine would be fine"

I have a budget unfortunately of around £400, which would include CPU board and RAM, probably not a great budget i understand.

My current setup includes the aforementioned amd fx8320, a gtx 1060 6GB, 16 GB ram, with a 650w XXX XFX psu.

Any advice is welcome, thanks.

if you only want to game get i5 8th or 9th gen i5 9400 or i5 8400 if you can find 8400 significantly cheaper than 9400.
if you do other stuff too editing, or streaming AMD is better option ryzen 5 will do the job you also you can overclock them without getting those special K chips like intel.. pop in a SSD as well.

AMD is the better option for budget build.
For that much of money, I would go for Ryzen 5 2600 (£160), 2x8GB DDR4 3200(£140) and a decent B450(£80-130) mainboard.
2600+B450 is OCable.

If you want the processor to be OCable..
Overclockable I5 a.k.a. the I5 k line-up (9600k or 8600k) will suck around £240-300 for just itself. You would then also want a decent Z370 or Z390 mainboard (£130-200), which do not come exactly cheap compared to a modest B450.

and would allow for a 9th generation cpu if the money should sometime prove bountiful...

Though perhaps faster ram would make AMD a bit more viable choice, though when I tried tarkov, servers where a greater issue than me pc performance.

So out of the 2 bundles listed here, the ryzen and the intel which would be a better option for gaming? tarkov being one of the biggest concerns "of course servers are another issue i cant control" and which of those two would be more sound for the future, plus other games such as insurgency sandstorm and others, will i see any significant increase in frame rate over my 8320?

First, Ryzen 2600, Intel I5 8400 and 9400 are already a big jump from FX8320. No single doubt from this point of view.

You just have to compare the newer procs against each other using your usage case and budget as the judges.
2600 is the better value and better allrounder while the I5s are better for pure gaming rig.
Info: 2600 is the only one among those 3 with HT and the only one overclockable.

I see, i mean both those bundles listed are within my budget, and include all the peices id need as i have the GPU PSU and such, the rig is used pretty much for gaming and gaming only, i do light browsing of the internet as anyone does, but its just games, warthunder escape from tarkov insurgency ark, stuff like that. My frames in escape from drop to 30 and sit there almost all the time when anything really happens giving me a bit of a disadvantage. I use 4 SSD's one is OS 3 others for games, plus an extra HDD.

For pure gaming:
8400 and 9400 do not have HT, which could be helpful on some games.
8400 and 9400 have faster cores out of the box, which could be useful for most games.
2600 can be OCed to reduce the single core/thread performance gap to the 8400 and 9400.
2600 stock cooler is better than Intel stock cooler.
Any of those 3 will serve you well for gaming.

That would be the bundle id go for if the ryzen is a better option, with that RAM.

I think i will have to change the PSU at a later date.

So this all looks pretty good and hopefully i might see a decent frame rate jump after installing it all from my 8320.

Last few things i would like to ask, will i need to reinstall windows when changing the motherboard out? Or should it work fine without the change?
