Hi all

Looking for a new graphics card and wondered what people thought would be the best one to go for. Looking to spend 200 odd maybe 300 pound, What does everybody think are the best options for around that price???

For your price range, I think the R9 290 offers the best performance/dollar ratio. It almost matches the 290x and GTX 970, but can be purchased for closer to the 200 mark. If you are buying new, make sure to get one with a good cooler-it does make a performance difference with this card.

I wouldn't recomend the r9 290. It has had many problems ever since it was released. Also, it requires a small nuclear reactor to power it (290 watt tdp). The gtx 970 is faster, cooler, and quieter than the 290.

the R9 290- is a better choice, dont listen to iball the 290 has no problem at all i sold the card a while ago after replacing it with a R9 290x, the 970 is great and uses less power but the 290 is a better choice

The 290 does use 80w more at full load. The 970 is a great card, but it costs significantly more considering your budget.
