Question Looking to know core 2 quad compatibility.

I just acquired some old hardware for cheap and I am looking to upgrade to play some late 2000s games.

Dell G43t-DM1 C:A00 This is a very late LGA 775 board, manufactured around 2010/11.
Intel Pentium E6700 3.2ghz 65w tdp. It has a basic cooler aswell.
6gb ddr3 These sticks are unmatched, but this system came from the factory like that so it works fine with current configuration.
300w Hipro PSU.

I cannot find Dell's documentation on processor upgrades for this motherboard, perhaps since I do not know what system this was pulled from.

Looking on Intel's website, the G43 chipset supports up to the QX9650, but these go for stupid prices. https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...82g43-graphics-and-memory-controller-hub.html

I see that the Q8400 and Q6600 are also supported, and these are inexpensive.

Do you think a 95w Q8400 or 105w q6600 will work in this board? It should theoretically work, but i am worried Dell TDP limited the board or something. Does anyone know how to check?

Also, I have heard of using tape on 2 contacts on the CPU to overclock q6600s to 3ghz. Does this work with the Q8400? If not, i will buy the q6600.

Ill get a q6600 and do the tape thingy if temps are alright.

I didn't concider the propriatary mount, thanks for the imput. Looking at it makes me thing think it is proprietary since the backplate and mobo are one thing. Well, if temps are high i can always ignore it. Its a $5 CPU that would be damaged anyhow.
