What direction should I be heading in? So a little background I am a Graphics design Major and do a lot of work in photoshop, maya, after effects, etc. I also play my fair share of games on my pc. I've had my current set of 760's since I built my pc like 5 or so years ago. I recently noticed a drop in performance from both my graphics cards and my ram. The ram I already have started looking into but for grapics cards I realized that I have no idea where I should start if I want something that will let me have room to "grow" if you will and something that I won't have to look at being forced to update for a while. Budget isn't really a problem so I'm open to all suggestions.

Currently I'm running an Intel i7-4820k @ 3.70 GHz with 16GB of DDR3. Like I said before planning to upgrade ram to DDR4 and my current monitor runs at 1920x1080 at 60 MHz refresh rate. For games I have a wide variety of stuff but at the moment I'm playing MMO's, RPG's, and several other large open world style games. Ex. Rise of the Tomb Raider, Assassins Creed Odyssey, etc.

To upgrade to DDR4 you need a new motherboard and cpu, DDR3 and DDR4 are not interchangeable.

For gpu a 1660 or 1660Ti would be a massive upgrade. If you want the option of Ray Tracing then you would need to step up the the RTX 2060 but the games you list don’t support it. AMD are just about to launch new cards so probably best to wait and see what these offer or if they help reduce prices in this section of the market.

Yep, agree with sizzling, you'd want a 1660 Ti or RTX 2060 for those games at 1080p, and if you don't want Ray Tracing then AMD cards launching in a few days are also a possible option. If you want DDR4 RAM I would recommend going with third gen Ryzen 7, maybe the 12-core, otherwise the 8-core, that should be a good upgrade from the 4-core 8-thread i7 you have right now.
