Hello everyone, I am looking to overclock my 8320 from 3.5Ghz to 4.5Ghz. I have tried to overclock to 4.5GHz @ 1.475v but my temperatures were too high. I stopped prime95 after 15min before the chip hit 63C. I am looking for mostly a FSB overclock, to maximize my performance.
I have already built a custom waterloop for both my GPUs and my CPU.
Here are my specs:
CPU: AMD FX-8320 @ 3.5GHz (stock)
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula
PSU: Corsair TX850w
GPU: 2x Radeon HD 6970 in Crossfire
RAM: 8GB Corsair Dominators (Not Platinums)
Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2
Cooling:
Swiftech Apogee XT CPU Waterblock with AM3+ bracket
Swiftech MCP35X Pump
Alphacool HF 38 Cape Cyclone 150 Rev. 2 (Reservoir)
2x EK-FC6970 Nickel Plexi GPU Waterblocks
240mm XSPC Crossflow Radiator (Pull Config)
240mm Thick Double Feser X-Changer Radiator (Push/Pull Config)
120mm Radiator (Brand Unknown) (Push Config)
I have tried to stabilize 4.66GHz at 1.475v, but after 15min the temps went too high.
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
Does anybody have any ideal overclock for my setup? The direction of my loop is as follows: Reservoir, pump, 2x GPU waterblocks, CPU block, crossflow radiator, X-changer radiator (thick), 120mm radiator, and back to the reservoir.
I also saw an overclock by SR-71 Blackbird, where he had his 8350 at 5.1GHz @ 1.368v or something, and he was overclocking on AIR. I believe it has something to do with getting a well built chip or something, but seeing that was jaw-dropping for me.
Any suggestions?
