Hello, recently looking on the internet I have found a provider selling the Xeon E3-1280V3 for $94. The seller is "IT PARTS DEPOT" and they seem to be a trustful seller. The only thing I notice is wow, the price of the chip on their site is too real to be true. The problem I have is there is no real review of the chip, it's not really anywhere except for a few benchmarks which compare it to around i7-4770. I'm really looking into this chip due to its low price and higher end specs compared to the cpu I currently have. I've checked everything and the cpu is compatible with my whole system.

So is it worth it? Is this a sham? I'd really appreciate the help as I am planning on buying it on Thrusday to see if its the real deal or not.

Thanks for any feedback!

I believe the price is do to it being pretty dated now. Searching more about the site, it seems to be like kind of a pawnshop of server parts. The website has a 30 day warranty along with good reviews about them, everyone satisfied. As for the chip, it does not seem to have problems and it's atleast known enough to be listed for my motherboard. My guessing is due to it being a server chip and not in demand, they might just be trying to sell the chip(s) off. Everything looks like its in the right order, its not classified as refurbished like a lot of other products, but as new. The only thing weird is the price but if anything isn't right there's that warranty on it.

edit: This is a website for marketing down products for server pc use for companies, but us home consumers still can purchase products.

Thats what I was saying. It smokes my cpu in performance. If this listing lives up to its name, I might actually be able to keep the bottleneck away from my gtx 970 and be able to enjoy my cpu intensive games for once!

If anyone else has advice i'll take that too!

Watching the price, I notice it fluctuate a lot between a few dollars. Either in high demand or slowly going even more down in price. I believe it started yesterday at 97 but now it's 93. Let's hope it stays this way till tomorrow.

Do you know how long it's been used? how is the condition and is it under warranty? Any pictures of the chip? I would take precaution and check the seller's reputation or ask them directly about the cpu you're buying.

Late answer but I did try to order it. The results were quite upsetting as not too long after i ordered it I got an email back saying "unfortunately, this product is out of stock" and the page to order the cpu since then has been gone. Sorry for this late answer I have been quite busy.
