[SOLVED] Looking to swap out a 1TB HDD for a 2TB SSD

I built my first PC a while ago and have started wondering about future upgrades. My system currently has a SSD as the boot drive and a 1TB hard drive for storage. While I don’t need to make any changes as of right now, I’d like to know my options regarding trading out my 1TB HDD for a larger-capacity SSD. I know I can clone the data onto the drive, but what I don’t know is what problems may arise from this transition.
I’d appreciate any help you guys can offer. Please give me whatever advice, suggestions, and warnings you may have related to this question. Thank you!

Cloning takes the good/bad/ugly.
On a positive side, there's no setup required, it's (mostly) plug and play.

However, depending how old your install is.... how easily available your programs are etc, it might be a better idea to clean install.

If the 1TB HDD is just a secndary drive, and you're swapping in a 2TB SSD....No cloning needed.


Simple copy/paste from old to new, keep the same folder structure.
Then, swap the drive letters around so the new 2TB has the same drive letter as the 1TB HDD did.
Done.

Somehow I never thought of ‘copy-and-paste,’ so I appreciate you pointing it out to me. Thanks for the link you posted, Barty! I’ll keep it in mind if I need to pursue that at all.
