Hello everyone, lately i have been experience constant ups and down with my internet and i'm under the impression it is my isp. I have comcast and have and have had comcast for sometime now. I believe the package we have is around 30 down and 5 up which i know is nothing special. We recently upgraded our router and our modem and i am running a hardline adapter into my pc. My dad has also been having problems off and on since with them forever. My question to everyone here is; What ISP do you use? or could it be something other than ISP that's causing my poor performance? I'm usually the tech savvy one around the house but when my Dad came asking me what ISP we should use i wasnt too sure. I'm sure theres something out theres thats faster for cheaper.

"which ISP" depends on your particular house.
In my neighborhood, it can literally be one side of the street or the other. Just around the corner, one side can get Verizon FiOS, the other side is limited to Verizon DSL.
Both sides can get Cox.

You have to investigate what the actual issue is.
If it is all systems at the same time, it is likely your router or the ISP.
If only one system, it is likely that system.

What 'problems' are you experiencing?

I really don't know much in this area of tech but I am currently writing this from PC which is connected to my router through a hardline adapter. As of right now i am getting around 5 down and 5 up with like 30 ping. We recently upgraded our router and modem about 6 months ago because we were told it would improve performance which i naturally assumed it would. The router is a Linksys EA8300 and the Modem is a Arris Surfboard SB6190. Both of which are plugged into a power strip plugged into the wall. The modem has the thick round cord coming down from the ceiling plugged into the back and it says 1GHz. The only other port has the little network symbol and a standard ethernet comes out of that into the internet port on the back on the router. All seems a-okay to me. The router has like 4 ethernet ports and one of which is my hardline adapter which is Netgear. All of my ethernet drivers are up to date on my pc. The speed is sometimes bad on my pc but not always but our WiFi is generally always pretty awful. Last week i brought my Xbox to the basement which is in the same room as the router, i was getting like Kbs down and then i connected it to my mobile hotspot and was getting like 65.
