Hi all,
With the help of my friends I've put together a custom desktop in May. I've upgraded everything except the GPU, as I felt that for the games I tend to play the 650 Ti was still sufficient and it seemed wise to wait for the Pascal generation of GPUs to be released.
Now that the dust has settled after the Pascal-mania, I'm looking to upgrade from my 650 Ti and have pretty much decided on the 1060 6gb. It's probably a better card than I need for my gaming preferences right now, but at least for me it will be future proof. I'm looking to play games at 1080p.
Current build:
So far so good. Now, however, I have discovered that the 1060 6gb comes in a lot of versions and I am completely lost as to which one would be best for me. I understand that performance wise, the differences are negligible. I'm not looking to pay extra for performance. I do value good cooling, since I understand it helps performance and longevity and I'm hoping this new card will last me a good while. Since my case has a window, I would prefer a card with a backplate, it would look a lot nicer. It's not a dealbreaker though. Also, since I am sensitive to high-pitched sounds, I would hate coilwhine.
I read some good reviews for the Galax/KFA2 EXOC version, but I cannot find much about the brand. I'm given to understand that MSI and Asus are reliable brands, the rest I don't know.
Are there any cards in this 1060 6gb range with known problems?
