Hey guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor to something a bit bigger and with a larger resolution (maybe) my current monitor is the AOC e2450Swh which is a good all round 1080p monitor but I would prefer something a bit bigger as I'm planning on only using one. I don't want a 4K monitor just yet as my computer is not beefy enough to games at that resolution and achieve a decent frame-rate, so I'm pretty set on a 1440p resolution or maybe even 1080p if there is a monitor good enough. I'm looking for something with a slim bezel and quite a large screen the size of my current monitor is 23.6" and that's just a little too small for my liking. I will mainly be using the monitor for gaming and browsing the web, none of the games I play are that demanding so I assume my PC (GTX 970, AMD FX 8320) will be able to play them with hopefully no problems. No set budget at this point but nothing insanely expensive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

thanks in advance.

Okay, so based on that information I think this is pretty close to what you're looking for. The best image coloring technology in the affordable price range right now is pretty much AH-IPS and looks really good.

This is a decent 27 inch AH-IPS monitor from Asus:

Monitor: Asus MX279H 27.0" Monitor ($252.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $252.99

That's a really nice monitor, will definitely consider it. Thanks a lot!

Consider this amazing value oriented 27 Inch Monitor under $200:

Monitor: BenQ GW2760HS 60Hz 27.0" Monitor ($199.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $199.99

BenQ GW2760HS is a 27 Inch, thin bezel, Full HD, 1080p, VA Panel, 4ms response time, flicker free (ideal for long gaming session with reduced eye fatigue), which offers the best of both worlds - Great gaming with good color reproduction.

Cheers!

This looks great as well, I have quite a bit to think about but will definitely keep this display in mind. Thanks heaps!

I would suggest to avoid the Asus MX279H, it uses LED PWM Dimming which causes some people to suffer from health issues like eyestrain, as well as ruins motion clarity.

The BenQ above is a fine monitor, however I do not think it is the best choice. It is still 1080p, like your old screen, in combination with 27'' it will look worse and not better than your old monitor, unless you sit further away. The VA panel has its advantages, but it is the slower panel of the tree (TN, VA, IPS), so it is not really suitable for gaming. Its price is indeed very competitive, but you can do better.

My suggestions are the ones below, all 27" 2560x1440p AHVA/IPS/PLS:
First of all, the Crossover 2795 QHD. The Crossover 2795 does not use LED PWM Dimming, can be overclocked and has excellent color presets, high contrast and fast pixel response times.

Mind the custom taxes though. Tell me if you are North American, you can buy Korean monitors from an American reseller.

If you want to avoid Korean monitors for any reason, the best choice is LG 27MB85R. It has excellent color presets, a matte grey bezel, low input lag and fast pixel response times. It is relatively expensive though.

For a cheaper alternative, consider the Asus PB278Q. It is PWM/Flicker Free, delay free unlike most of the multi-input 1440p monitors and is noticeably faster pixel response time wise (ghosts less), but it has slightly worse color presets than the LG 27MB85R.
