Hey guys. I would like to ask you for help if you can, please.

Right now I have this disk on a laptop:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1TB-Seagate-FreePlay-ST1000LM024-SATA-2-5-Notebook-Hard-Drive-P-N-HN-M101MBB-/370898012179?pt=US_Internal_Hard_Disk_Drives&hash=item565b3e8813

It's a 5400rpm disk, and I think this is what is causing me stuttering mostly when I'm playing online games. I'm almost sure it's the disk because I tried playing a game using RamDisk (a software that uses RAM as Disk) and the suttering stopped.

So I'm thinking of switching it for a 7200rpm disk of the same type (2.5", Sata II, 3.0Gbps, and the same Space).

Now, I have some questions:

Would this fix the problem?

My Laptop also has a slot for SSD. Should I get the SSD instead?

Will the 7200RPM disk make a lot more noise than a 5200RPM disk?

And finally, do I need to look for anything else than these specifications when buying the disk: 2.5", Sata II, 3.0Gbps, 1TB and 7200RPM? Shall I get the same Cache - 8MB?

Thank you and have a good day!

Try playing a game locally without the use of the RAMdisk to see if you still have issues. You may be ruling out lag across the ISP. I know that some tiers of service are more headaches due to the limited bandwidth available.

If you do plan on upgrading to a 7200RPM drive, you will notice the power consumption will also increase, so if anything and with all things being equal, go for an SSD instead.
