Looking to upgrade motherboard

I was wondering what a good motherboard upgrade would be This is my rig:
motherboard is a Gigabyte 78LMT-S2 Micro ATX form factor with an AM3+ socket. Cpu is an AMD Athlon II x3 with an unlocked 4th core (for some reason, when I unlocked the 4th core, it reads it as a Phenom II). Graphics is a Radeon Rx 480 8gb RAM is a 2x4 gig set of gskill ripjawsX with a total of 8 gigs. Power supply is a Corsair CX500M which is an 80 plus bronze rated supply running at 500 watts.

When you unlock the 4 core yes it will read P II.
If your board is still working fine then their no reason to get a new board for a dead end socket.

Save your money buying a new board is not going to increase your performance.

Gigabyte 78LMT-S2 is Micro-ATX. I'm guessing your looking for another Micro-ATX form factor size.

Unlocking cores can differ from motherboard to motherboard. AMD doesn't guarantee results.

You can pick up a Phenom II 550 on eBay for $20.

As long as the board has the feature they work the same board to board it's the chip that makes the difference. Their already 4 cores but didn't pass QC so a core was disabled some will run fine unlocked and some won't be stable.
