Question Looking to upgrade Motherboard

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my dads Motherboard.

Hes currently running

Windows 10 pro
F2A88XM-D3HP motherboard
24GB memory 4 slots
Geforce 1080ti 6gb

Possibly in the future id like him to have a Ryzen 7, but with the current processor, What would be a good motherboard to purchase?

Any help would be great...

The problem is that the current motherboard is a AMD FM2 socket, and all current AMD motherboards use the AM4 socket. You will have to replace both motherboard and CPU at the same time and the RAM as well since the new boards use DD4 memory...

In order to get any kind of significant upgrade you'll have to upgrade a more than just the motherboard itself. None of the recent high quality motherboards are compatible with your other components. The Ryzen 7 you mentioned uses the AM4 socket and DDR4 RAM, so you'll need something like a B450 or X570 motherboard with the CPU and the compatible RAM.
