I have an older custom system with an Asus Hero VI which has been causing me some issues lately. I feel it's time to upgrade again to something more current. My present components are as follows:
Asus Hero VI
Intel 4670 OC TO 4.2
16GB OF GSKILL Ram
Samsung 840 512GB SSD
Asus GTX780
H220

I hope to sell this system and build something better such as a Z97 MB, an Intel 4970 or better, and a and a GTX970 or 980. I was also toying with the Intel 750 (but that may be overkill). This would be a wonderful system for me.

What I am asking for, is, could some of the other members use their expertise in their fields and help me by suggesting the best components to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
I would say it would be pretty pointless to upgrade now. Maybe move to a 980 or 980ti, but anything else wont give you much of a performance increase. What kind of issues is the pc causing you ?

Gpu to a 980ti is the only thing that iwould change and only if you are struggling with frames .
The CPUs are not worth the money difference only about 5 fps.
It might be a better idea to save your money and wait for skylakes for CPU and pascal for gpu as they will be a significant jump in performance .
