I'm looking to upgrade my computer, as it's running quite slow, and also looking for a new case. (Not sure if this is in the right place)

My current specs are:
Motherboard - gigabyte ga-78lmt-usb3
Processor - AMD FX - 4130 quad core
Memory - 2 x 8gb corsair
Graphics Card - amd radeon r9 270
Power supply - corsair CX850M
HDD - samsung 500gb, seagate 500gb and toshiba 2tb
Case - Cooler Master HAF 912
OS - windows 10
Fairly certain the only cooling fans are stock ones that came with the parts

I'd say my budget is about £250 for upgrades, maybe £300
Can provide any other info if needed
Thank you in advance

You will have to replace the entire system. Motherboard, CPU and RAM. The FX line of CPUs is a dead end. Save your money for an i3-8100 (quad core) or a Ryzen CPU. Those will both require new motherboard and RAM. Your graphics card, case and power supply should be reusable. An 240GB SSD added in, will improve your boot times.

You need DIFFERENT RAM. Then newer CPUs all require DDR4 memory. You have DDR3 which is incompatible.

The features on a motherboard that are important to you are different than anyone else. I recommend you use pcpartpicker.com and save a config. Post it here. We can then identify if there are any better options.
