Hey guys... It's been about 5 years with my ASUS HD 4850, and I need something with more oomph. I DEFINITELY got my moneys worth. But I'd like to max out my games. My other internals HAVE been updated recently, so my graphics card is the weakest link. Right now on high, Tomb Raider runs at about 25-40 fps. But I want ALL THE THINGS. It's also gotten to that point were I make my game purchases based around my card. Unacceptable.

Anyhow, I don't want to spend more than 200 dollars. And with all pc upgrades, I'm pushing it to the max. I'll spend more if it means rebating back to my 200 dollar cap. So I was looking a the ASUS 270x for 199, but now I'm considering a Sapphire 280 I found for 189... I had heard the 7000 series will be discontinued, will the prices on those drop significantly? Would it be wise to wait for that?

Which would you recommend? I'm also open to any other suggestions in my price range.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this. I'm leaning towards the 280, but I guess I need a little validation before hitting the Place Order button. :3

if your happy with rebates, then yes, get the R9 280 (AMD 7950). As long as your PSU can handle it.

R9 280/X requires 30 Amps on the 12v rail & a 550W PSU minimum

Thanks Scampi. I actually went with the MSI R9 280 due to the better specs for the 10 dollar difference. Much excite. Very anticipate.
