Hey guys,

I currently have a P8Z68-V motherboard, 16GB Ram, R9 290 Video Card and when I'm streaming I'm getting bottlenecked. I think it's my CPU i5-2500k but I'm not sure, regardless there are times my CPU is at 100% on multiple different games so I'm wondering what the best 1155 processor is or if there's a better/different combo that I could upgrade to in order to get better performance?

I had 2 500GB SSDs & a Seasonic X-660 PSU, R9 290 at present. I don't think I would need to upgrade any of that.

What kind of performance difference would I see between that ryzen and my i5-2500k or the 3770?
That’s perfect, the ryzen cpu is going to absolutely blow away the older intel cpus. The performance bump between the 2500 and the 3770 would be decent the extra threads will help in more modern games but it won’t be an amazing improvement in comparison

Here is a link that is supposed to show the performance difference between the i7 3770 and i7 8700k. This is relevant because if you look at the AMD Ryzen 5 3600/3600x for example, those actually run pretty much even with an i7 8700k.

The 3700x is the next cpu in the stack with 8 cores and 16 threads as opposed to 6 cores 12 threads.

To put it another way, look at this. This is your 2500k vs a Ryzen 1600x. Keep in mind, the 1600x is now a 2 year old cpu. I think the 3000 series chips are about 30-35% better than the first gen chips. So factor that in, and add 2 more cores.

I actually had a Ryzen 1700x and upgraded to a 3600. So I lost 2 cores, but single thread performance increase was good. I can play a lot of stuff at high refresh rates, even with a 1660 super, which is about the same performance wise as a 1070. The 2500k was great for it's time, but the Ryzen, almost any of them really would be a good upgrade.

If all you're upgrading is just the processor to the Intel Core I7-3770(K), then no. You can keep using your current Cooler Master. If you intend the core system upgrade (CPU/Motherboard/RAM), then you will need to determine if your version of the 212+ is compatible with the AM4 socket (check the specs page). If it's compatible, then you can use it. If not, then you will need another option. The Ryzen CPU comes with it's own cooler.
