Solution
- PSU has enough wattage. Ensure that your power supply has two 6-pin PCIe power connectors.

- The graphics card should fit. It looks like it would be a tight fit. The new card will be 1 to 1.5 inches longer.

You should be able to just simply install a GTX 970. I recommend uninstalling the old display drivers in safe mode with Display Driver Uninstaller, shutting down, installing the new card, then booting up and installing the drivers for the new card.

You should be able to do an easy swap. But do know that the PSU you have is a very low quality unit that doesn't have anywhere near 700W available to your main comonents. From what I see it's so bad that most retailers won't show the actual amperages of the unit.

But this guys tells all about them. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/310123-28-power-supplys-range

I'm just saying I would upgrade to a quality power supply.

Thanks i appreciate it, safe mode sounds good when i install it thanks.
i am good enough with the software side but not with the hardware side,
i will upgrade the power supply to be on the safe side thanks .
stupid question do i need to buy an asus gtx 970 card because the motherboard asus

I believe the GTX 10 series is better for VR, so I would say yes get that. But I woudl also say the 6GB version would be the best choice.

You actually don't have to get a new PSU, the 700W (according to that post I linked) has 504W split across 2 rails. So it should be enough for the GTX 1060.

But the post doesn't mention any safety features on the power supply so I wouldn't trust it with an expensive system.

thanks for all your help man , i am actually buying one now 1060 seem just above budget i am looking for one just under 230 or is that too little for a decent card

EVGA 6GB GEF GTX 1060 SC GDDR5 decided to take your advice and get this one looks small but powerful , for the last time do i need anything else upgraded on my pc before i buy it : ) : ) thanks

That's a good GPU. I had one for a while and the cooler is great for a small card. You should be able to just swap it in without changing any other hardware. I still recommend getting a good quality power supply to protect your system though.

As mentioned earlier I would uninstall the current display driver before installing the new GPU, and then downloading (or downloading before-hand) the newest display driver from Nvidia and installing it after you install your new GPU.
