Looking to upgrade my PC

Hey guys I'm looking to upgrade my pc, as it is starting it show its age. I built it about 2 years ago, and have recently been playing CoD: Advanced Warfare and its a bit slugish. I can run it, but the frame drops happen quite frequently. Any other games i can run quite well, Shadow of Mordor on High at 60+ steady FPS. Either way, I'm looking to upgrade with a budget of around 500.00.
Was wondering what you think is holding me back the most, and what I should look at upgrading first. I'll post specs below and I would appreciate some feedback, thanks guys.

Processor: AMD FX-4300 Quad Core 3.8GHz
Ram: 8GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST
PSU: 550w

your cpu might be bottlenecking your system.... i suggest you to overclock it to 4ghz and above and it will fix the sluggishness

make sure you have a good cpu cooler

How would I go about overclocking? I hear that all the time buy am not sure how to do it.

Grab a i5 4690k and motherboard. Sell your old mobo and cpu. Then get a gtx 970!

When i open dxdiag this is what shows up, not sure how to check my motherboard because im a scrub

CPUID's "CPU-z" is good for determining hardware, and a slew of other useful information.

its a 760gb chipset mobo.. it can handle overclocking
usualy raising multiplier does the trick

but since you have an old mobo
