Looking to upgrade my processor for gaming needs.

I agree with the man above, the FX series is an amazing CPU.
If you have the cash, go for the eight core, and go get an H80 Cooler so you can overclock it and deal with the heat.
 
I also recomend the FX series. I have an FX6300 which will give you one fps less than an i5 and is much cheaper than an i5.

Your motherboard has the 955, 1045t, and 945 in it's compatability list. All should be in your budget.

Those are your best bet, the 955 would be best because it is fully unlocked for overclocking.


But you cant go wrong with any of the three.
