Looking to upgrade PSU to support a GEFORCE GTX 760

gtx 760 will run fine on a good 500 watt PSU but your PSU is a stock one so not good enough i would recomend xfx 550.

Currently I cant' boot my system up with my PSU when my graphics card is installed. I was suggested to try a new power supply because it seems to be the problem.

There cheap, but probably not as safe as a more expensive one. Seasonic is great quality, and I found one here that suits your needs at the correct wattage, here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151095

By stock he means PSU's that do not have bronze certification or higher, and usally comes with pre-built PCs. Stock PSUs are cheap and not power efficient.

No, but that PSU is definently not a quality one. Get the seasonic I suggested.

The PSU has enough wattage and AMPS to run gtx 760 but the quality of the PSU is not good at load it can give up easily.

xfx , seasonic, rosewill capstone are some good brands for PSU.
i suggested the xfx because its the cheapest among these.
