Hello I am looking for some advice as to what card I should upgrade to from my Sapphire Dual-X R9 280.

Budget: Looking For a card anywhere from $150-$250 range and trying to purchase soon

Current Setup: Running a AMD FX-6300 on a ASUS M5A97 R 2.0

Games: Play mostly League or CounterStike (I know performance boost wont be much here) but looking for a card that will allow me to run other various games at decent settings with good framerate

Preference: Dont have much of a preference on AMD vs Nvidia just looking for the best upgrade

OC: Might look into overclocking in the future but not a necessity for me on the card

Getting a new monitor soon so resolution problems will not be worry to me

Overall just looking for a upgrade on my outdated card so any help or suggestions is welcomed
Thanks!

I'm afraid that you won't find much in your budget at the moment that would be an appreciable upgrade from the R9 280.

Your card outperforms the GTX 1050 Ti, so you'd be looking at something like the RX 570, 580 or GTX 1060 for an upgrade. All of which are pretty much out of your price range for now. The good news is that prices are starting to come down from the massive high they were a couple months ago. So waiting and getting one of these cards when they are closer to MSRP is your best bet.

EDIT: The GTX 1060 3GB is in your price range, but I don't consider that a good buy right now. having 3GB or VRAM is going to limit its performance in the future. So you'll just be getting another upgrade far too soon.
