Looking to upgrade to an i5 for gaming, any suggestions?

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my AMD CPU, preferably to an i5, and I am looking for suggestions. I will also need a new motherboard, so recommendations for one of those would be great, too. Any help is appreciated.

If money is no option, for an i5, I suggest the i5 4690k. And for the Motherboard I suggest the MSI Z97 Gaming 5.

Also consider the i5 6600k and a z170 motherboard if you want to be on the latest platform with DDR4 RAM and M2 SSD support.
